Residential electrical.
Powerpoints, ceiling fans, extra circuits, renovations and full rewires. Safe, tidy electrical work for Melbourne homes, priced upfront, with a Certificate of Electrical Safety on completion.
What's included.
From a single dodgy powerpoint to a whole-house rewire, it's the same standard: clean work to AS/NZS 3000, drop sheets down, and everything tested and labelled before we leave.
- Powerpoints & USB outlets New points where you actually need them, replacements for cracked or scorched ones, and outdoor weatherproof outlets.
- Ceiling fans & exhaust fans Supplied or install-only. Balanced, quiet and wired to a proper switch, not a death-wobble special.
- Renovations & extensions Rough-in to fit-off for kitchens, bathrooms and extensions. We work in with your builder's schedule.
- Rewires & safety switches Old rubber or cloth wiring replaced, safety switches on every circuit, and a Certificate of Electrical Safety at the end.
When to get a sparky in.
Most of these are small jobs. None of them fix themselves.
- A powerpoint that is warm, cracked, scorched or loose in the wall
- Lights that dim when the kettle, heater or air con kicks in
- A safety switch that trips again after you reset it
- Power boards and double adaptors doing the work of points the house never had
- A kitchen or bathroom renovation, or an extra room going on
- An older house, and nobody can say when it was last rewired
Tested and labelled before we leave.
What moves the quote.
Four things. Mention them when you book.
- How far the cable runs. A new point beside an existing one is quick. A new circuit from the switchboard to the far end of the house is not.
- What the house is built from. Plaster walls with roof space above are easy to fish cable through. Solid brick, slab floors and flat roofs take longer.
- Room left on the switchboard. A full or dated board may need work before anything new connects to it.
- Who supplies the fittings. Fans, lights and outlets you have already bought can go in. Say what you have so the quote covers the right install.
Worth knowing about your own house.
- 1997
Any building constructed after 1 August 1997 must have hard-wired smoke alarms with a battery back-up.

- Lights, power points, air conditioning and hot water connections do not need an inspector's visit. They still end with a certificate, and you get a copy. Source: Energy Safe Victoria, certificates of electrical safety
- Ceiling fans are cheap to run and use less energy than evaporative coolers or air conditioners. Pick one with summer and winter settings. Source: YourHome, heating and cooling
