EV ready

EV charger installs.

Wake up to a full battery every morning. We install home EV chargers properly: sized for your car, your switchboard and your driveway, with tidy cable runs, tested before handover.

What's included.

A proper EV charger install isn't just bolting a box to the wall. It's checking your switchboard capacity, load management so the charger doesn't trip your home when the oven's on, and a tidy cable run that doesn't look like an afterthought.

  • Your choice of charger Tell us the make and model you have bought, or ask before you buy.
  • Single & three-phase 7kW single-phase for most homes, 22kW three-phase where the supply allows. We check before we quote.
  • Switchboard & load check We verify your board can handle the load and add protection or load management where needed.
  • Tidy, weatherproof install Garage or exterior wall, tidy conduit runs, weatherproofed and tested.

Send these and the quote is quick.

Photos from your phone are enough to start. Text them to 0481 392 983.

  • Your switchboard with the door open, close enough to read the labels
  • Where the car parks, and the wall or post the charger would go on
  • The car you drive or have on order
  • Whether the house has solar or a battery
  • Single or three phase power, if you know. If you do not, the board photo shows it

Most installs take half a day.

How fast will it charge?

Government figures. Your car sets the ceiling.

What moves the quote.

The charger is the small part. The cable run and the board decide the rest.

  • Distance from the board to the car. Cable length is the biggest variable. A charger on the other side of the garage wall costs less to wire than one at the end of a long driveway.
  • Capacity on the switchboard. An older or full board may need an upgrade before a charger can go on it.
  • Single or three phase. A 7kW charger runs on single phase. Faster charging needs three phase supply at the house.
  • Load management. If the house is already near its supply limit, a device that slows the charger while the oven and air con are running can save a supply upgrade.

Before you buy a charger.

  • 33 km

The distance the average Australian drives in a day.

  • 24 hours

How long a standard power point can take to fill an EV battery from empty.

  • 500,000

Electric vehicles on Australian roads as of April 2026.

  • A home charger must be installed by a licensed electrician, and the Australian Government's own guide warns it may need a switchboard and supply upgrade.
  • For regular charging from a power point, YourHome recommends a dedicated outlet on its own circuit.

Questions, answered.

Which EV charger should I buy?
It depends on your car, your supply (single or three-phase) and whether you have solar. Ask before you buy.
Can my switchboard handle an EV charger?
Most modern boards can with the right protection. Older boards may need an upgrade first. We check as part of the free quote so there are no surprises.
How long does installation take?
Most installs are done in half a day, assuming no switchboard upgrade is needed.
Can the charger use my solar?
Yes. Some chargers are solar-aware and can charge mostly from your excess solar. Say what solar you have when you book.
Can I just use a normal power point?
Yes, slowly. A standard point gives up to 2.4kW, which the Victorian Government puts at 14 to 21 km of range for each hour plugged in. Plug the cable straight into the point, never through an extension cord or a power board.
Do I need three phase power?
No. A single phase wall charger runs at up to 7kW. Three phase allows up to 22kW, but only if the car can take it, and some cars accept no more than 7 to 11kW from an AC charger.
